This one of the few recorders that can record in various formats: WAV and MP3 files with sampling rates up to 96kHz.Phantom integrated and XLR inserts for external condenser mics. Even the internal microphone is exceptionally high, and I did not feel the need use more Mic's.
Also a function of 4-track recorder and can be integrated with Cubase or Nuendo to interface audio.I use rechargeable batteries on mine and never have to change them for a standard use of 4 hours. Using variable bit MP3 recording with a 2 gig Compact Flash Card will take you over 13 hours of recording. Incredible.
I love this unit. The only negative about it that the plastic casing and controls are too cheaply made and I think that could lead over time. Furthermore, the attached tripod mounting a reality a separate piece that attaches with Velcro. I believe that something more substance needed here. Also would be nice if a case inserted, or something similar to a microphone if it was ok.
Interface functions are excellent. I regularly use the level of manual settings overide line and have had excellent results with live recordings, and rehearals for the band. Also recorder great acoustic guitar.
I believe that nothing compare with this device in its price range. It been a trully well designed device that blows the Edirol, Sony and others away.
